ITP THESIS PROJECT // SOLAR POWERED SCULPTURE
This solar sculpture, which was part of my graduate thesis, incorporated amorphous solar cells on selected faces. These collect the sun's energy, which is stored in a battery pack that powers a lighting system in the base during the night. The sculpture creates a unique opportunity to go beyond the aesthetic, providing a utilitarian function in public spaces.

Several faces of the sculpture are covered with solar cells that are cut to size. Some of the cut cells are fully functional while others are not. At the base of the sculpture there are 7 super-bright LEDs that turn on when no light is detected. |
